
Natural speech is thought to be anywhere between 120-150 words per minute. It can be affected by "speech sounds: short vowels, long vowels, diphthongs, different types of consonsants, and consonant clusters". www.speechinaction.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk
"People tend to dictate to computers at about 105 words per minute (Karat, Halverson, Horn, and Karat, 1999; Lewis, 1999). Even so, there will be some mis-recognitions by the speech recognizer. Typists can be accredited with a 50/60/70 words per minute typing speed over a period of about 5 minutes. Over a longer period of time, this speed will drop to nearer 30-40wpm.
"Two-finger typists can key memorize text at about 37 words per minute, and copy from one form to another at about 27 words per minute (Brown, 1988). " ...
